United States authorities are warning of a possible terror attack on New York's subway system over the Thanksgiving holiday.
The FBI says it has received a plausible but unsubstantiated report of an al Qaeda threat. An internal memo obtained by The Associated Press revealed that in September the terror group had discussed attacking the system. Department of Homeland Security spokesman Russ Knocke has said the warning was issued "out of an abundance of caution going into this holiday season and there was no evidence of a concrete plan. But he warned there may be an increased police presence in New York and other large metropolitan areas. The report said that al Qaeda terrorists in late September may have discussed targeting transit systems in and around New York City.
